Dragonesque Enameled Brooch
This fibula is hand cast bronze with champlev'e enamel and measures approximately 1.25 inches long and .75 inches wide.
A fibula is an ancient fastener, first developed in the Bronze Age, used mostly to fasten clothing or cloaks. Though the name ‘fibula’ originally was used only for pins of Roman origin, it has come to be used for any ancient fastener with an elongated body and a hinge or spring attaching the pin. This is, in fact, the ancient predecessor of the modern safety pin.
